Magic Milk North West Leicestershire

Who Are We?
Magic Milk are a group of breastfeeding mothers who are also trained breastfeeding peer supporters. We volunteer alongside health care professionals to offer reassurance, support advice and information to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers in North West Leicestershire. We support mothers who are exclusively breastfeeding, pumping or combi-feeding. Our peer supporters are all mums who have breastfed their own children so know exactly what it’s like to be a breastfeeding mum and can offer a wealth of guidance, advice and support to mums who are feeding their babies and children. We are trained by the NHS to listen with empathy, give practical support and signpost mothers to evidence-based information and skilled professionals who can help if needed.

Where Do We Meet?
We run three groups each week:
Mondays at Ashby Heritage Centre 1:30pm-3pm
Wednesday at Measham Sure Start Centre 11:15am-12:30pm
Fridays at Coalville Sure Start Centre 9:30am-11:30am

Why is Breastfeeding Support Important?

Breastfeeding support matters because it has shown to help mothers continue their breastfeeding journey for as long as they want to. The UK is a bottle feeding society and it may be that new and expectant mums have rarely seen breastfeeding before it comes to feeding their own babies. Peer support groups offer safe spaces for new and expectant mums to come and discuss breastfeeding with other mothers who are on the same journey. As a support group, we aim to help mothers continue feeding their babies for as long as they want to.
